Black Box Theatre - Melbourne International Arts Festival 2004
The Arts Centre's BlackBox was again the place to be seen after dark as the home of the hot new Festival club The Blue Rinse. From the creative minds behind 2003's runaway hit The Blue Thong Club, The Blue Rinse is a live art venue, club and hairdressing salon featuring a superb line-up of the most eccentric talent.
Coiffes, cuts and controversy line up next to bent barbershop quartets, vocal gymnasts and ventriloquists, product demonstrations, shower singing and (s)hearing competitions in a fantastical, off-colour and entertaining exploration of the Festival's theme of VOICE.
The Blue Rinse was the latest crowning glory of international installation maestros Neil Thomas and Katy Bowman, whose Museum of Modern Oddities was the sensation of Europe in 2003. Dance late with an in-house DJ, have a salon-style gossip session or surrender to a complete makeover by The Blue Rinse stylists.
